Who we are

SimilarFilm (similarfilm.com) is a movie-discovery website that helps you find films similar to ones you already like. It has no user accounts and does not ask for, or store, any personal information on our servers.

Data we process

Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (pages visited, approximate location, device type). Google Analytics sets cookies and processes your IP address. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.

Watchlist. Your watchlist is stored only in your own browser (localStorage). It never leaves your device and we cannot see it. Clearing your browser data deletes it.

Hosting logs. The site is hosted on Vercel, which may keep standard, short-lived server logs (IP address, request URL) for security and operations.

Advertising

We may display advertising (such as Google AdSense) in the future. If we do, this policy will be updated and, where required, you will be asked for consent before advertising cookies are set.

Third-party data sources

Movie information is provided by the TMDB and OMDb APIs. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Requests for movie data are made from our servers, not from your browser.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, in the European Union under the GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct, or erase personal data. Since we store no personal data ourselves, such requests typically concern Google Analytics; see Google's privacy documentation, or contact us and we will help.
